The Blanchardstown Centre is one of Ireland’s leading retail and leisure destinations boasting over 180 stores, together with numerous restaurants and leisure facilities, plus a nine-screen cinema. Located in north-western Dublin and linked to Ireland’s major motorways, Blanchardstown Centre is one of Ireland’s most accessible and premier retail destinations with free parking, and is well placed to serve Dublin and beyond long into the future.

In 2020, a 5,000-sq.m reconfiguration and extension began on the existing 112,000 sq-m in the Blanchardstown Centre. The extension aimed to offer an improved shopping experience for the 16.5 million visitors every year. As a result of this new refurbishment, the center management team wanted to create a unique and memorable experience for shoppers with a brand new and exciting Christmas decoration scheme.

The primary objective of the project was to create an enchanting and immersive Christmas-themed environment that would attract more shoppers and increase the overall festive shopping experience to compliment the new refurbishment.

The first step was to conduct a thorough site survey to assess the location’s infrastructure and logistics, including the power supply and installation access points. After conducting the site survey, the team created a detailed design plan that would transform the shopping center into a winter wonderland. The plan included various features, such as a 30 foot Christmas tree, 6m long illuminated reindeers, 3 metre bespoke wreaths, and 12m giant icicles.

The JMD Illumination team started the installation process in late October. The installation process involved numerous technical and logistical challenges. For instance, the team had to work in a busy shopping environment while ensuring shoppers’ safety and minimizing any disruptions to the mall’s operations by working throughout the night for 7 days.

The final installation was nothing short of stunning. JMD Illumination’s work transformed the shopping center into a magical winter wonderland that transported visitors to a world of holiday wonder. The installation was not only a visual spectacle but also created an immersive festive atmosphere that left shoppers in awe.

The shopping center management were thrilled with the results. The Christmas decorations installation led to a significant increase in foot traffic, with shoppers traveling from all over Dublin to experience the enchanting display. The installation also generated significant excitement on social media, with shoppers sharing photos and videos of the winter wonderland.
